We are looking for an experienced and motivated attorney to become part of the Open Dealer Exchange (ODE) core leadership team at our office in Farmington Hills, MI. You would assume responsibility for providing advisement to our internal business teams on all legal matters, including regulatory compliance and directing the activities of any inside/outside counsel resources. Additionally, this position will play a critical role in all facets of the company’s commercial contracting initiatives, with a primary focus on supporting the sales and business development activities. You must be able to evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action, anticipate issues, identify proactive solutions, and estimate risks strategically.

You must able to work well cross-functionally both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

Draft, negotiate and close business to business contracts, in support of ODE’s fast-moving sales and business development departments Research and respond to Sales team and customer inquiries concerning a broad variety of legal matters Help architect ODE’s commercial contracts practice by assisting with the development of a comprehensive, long-term and scalable business minded approach to the contracting processes Structure and maintain standard form contracts, and develop and maintain state-of-the-art online terms and policies (including privacy policies) Collaborate with the business units, information security teams, and other senior leaders on data privacy and other compliance related issues surrounding the use of consumer’s credit data (FCRA, GLBA) Advise on a wide range of complex legal matters across all aspects of the company’s operations, including, but not limited to, corporate law, litigation and employment-related matters Retain and manage outside counsel resources, as necessary

Requirements:

Must be located near Farmington Hills, MI. Company is not open to fully remote applicants Must be licensed to practice law Candidate must have at least 3-7 years of experience, preferably in transactional, technology and/or consumer finance areas. Experience in consumer and/or automotive finance area is a strong preference. Ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex legal issues, draft and negotiate complex transactions in a straightforward manner Ability to think strategically and give practical advice Diligent work ethic, well organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure while focusing on providing solid and timely client service Must have excellent communication and writing skills (grammar, spelling etc.) Familiarity with FCRA, ECOA, and other personal privacy regulation
