Deputy General Counsel – Insurance Investments

A rapidly growing Investment Fund ($10B+ AUM) is seeking to hire a Deputy General Counsel that will act as the number 2 to the firm’s General Counsel. This is an excellent opportunity to have a high impact but also receive strong mentorship from the GC directly. The team is looking for an individual with a strong background in insurance investments and general finance to work directly with the investments team and other business verticals – experience using premiums from insurance companies to invest is a plus. This individual will be a pivotal member of the firm’s strategic plans moving forward and will advise the front office across the full transactional life cycle assisting in deal flow, investments, and handling a variety of complex agreements.
Responsibilities:Advise on the full transactional lifecycle by strategizing with front-office individuals on a daily basis regarding investment structure and deal documentation for financing and credit-related transactionsDraft and negotiate various legal documentation regarding investments and other general corporate matters for the firmStrategize with C-level executives at the firm regarding general legal matters as they ariseTake the lead on special projects
Qualifications: JD, Top Law School8+ years of Private Practice or In house experienceExposure to Structured Finance is a plusAbility to draft, review, and negotiate commercial and other corporate contractsAbility to manage outside counsel as neededExperience with credit deals is a plus
